In addition, the former gardener’s house with its convent café invites you to enjoy homemade cakes and regional specialities. If you would like to do something outdoors, the spacious outdoor area of the abbey with its adjacent orchard offers the opportunity. Whether inspiring conversations in the shade of the 300-year-old abbey lime tree or joint meditation in the gardens of the former convent sisters – here you can come together with your group in inspirational surroundings. In addition to the baroque gardens of the convent sisters, you will find the abbesses’ garden with fruit trees and flowers, a rose garden and a kitchen garden with all kinds of herbs and vegetables. Your group will be catered for by our abbey kitchen. The concept of our kitchen team is: “Abbey cooks cook differently”. All dishes are freshly prepared with seasonal and organic ingredients. Whether light meat dishes with sophisticated sauces, delicious soups or sweet desserts – you can sample culinary highlights in the dining room. Your cosmopolitan Christian guesthouse for church and secular groups
As a Protestant conference centre and guest house, we welcome both church and secular groups. Due to the abbey’s Christian history, the buildings radiate a special atmosphere and offer space for leisure activities as well as meetings and retreats. Here you will experience Christian hospitality and be integrated into the spiritual life of the abbey by our community. You and your group can take part in our church services and prayers. In the House of Silence there is also space for meetings, meditation and prayer in the in-house chapel. Furthermore, a light-flooded mediation room offers the opportunity to hold events according to the philosophy of the house.
The institutions of the Protestant Centre Kloster Drübeck offer many opportunities for groups to take part in Christian educational events and seminars. The Pedagogical-Theological Institute (PTI), for example, has an interesting range of internal training courses for groups. The main focus of the institute is on religious and community education. Furthermore, the media centre of the EKMD offers a comprehensive stock of audio-visual media and media technology which can be borrowed.
Excursions and group trips to the Harz Mountains are also possible due to the ideal location of the abbey. For example, you can visit the famous Hexentanzplatz (witches’ dancing place) near Thale with your group or dare to climb the Brocken together. The baroque Wernigerode Castle and the Rappbode Dam with the highest dam wall in Germany are also worth a trip. Daily newspapers and information material on leisure activities in the region are available at reception and at the hotel’s own information point. In addition, our reception staff will be happy to advise you on excursion destinations and sights in the Harz and help you plan excursions, cycling tours and hiking tours through the Harz. Tickets to our in-house events can be purchased at the Gärtnerhaus.
